Dr. Lei Jiang is a Professor at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (TIPC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He is an esteemed member of multiple prestigious academies, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the US National Academy of Engineering, and Academia Europaea.

Prof. Lei Jiang earned his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from Jilin University and his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, where he later conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. Akira Fujishima. After a stint as a senior researcher in Japan, he joined the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999, and in 2015, moved to TIPC.

His pioneering research in bio-inspired, smart interfacial materials with superwettability has greatly influenced material science, with his principles being adopted by over 1,400 research institutions worldwide. His work has led to both scientific advancements and practical applications, and he is widely regarded as a leading figure in the field.

Prof. Lei Jiang contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the TWAS Prize in Chemistry (2011), the UNESCO Medal for Nanoscience (2016), the Humboldt Research Award (2017), and the ACS Nano Lectureship Award (2020), among others.
